  Amy Poehler was born September 16, 1971. She is an American comedian and actress. After studying improv at Chicago's Second City and Improv Olympic in the early 1990s, Poehler co-founded the improvisational-comedy troupe Upright Citizens Brigade. The group relocated to New York City in 1996 where their act became a half-hour sketch-comedy series that aired on Comedy Central in 1998. Poehler along with other comedians, created the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. In 1998, Poehler joined Saturday Night Live's sketch-comedy crew. She became co-anchor of Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update in 2004 until she left the series in 2008 to appear as Leslie Knope in the sitcom Parks and Recreation.
