Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was an actress on television, ex-chef in the Institute of Culinary Education and previously taught cooking. Burrell is host of the Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Chef as well as the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, in her Food Network Series Secrets of a Restaurant Cook she demonstrates easy-to-master techniques and her trademark hairstyles that are spiky and blond. Chef Burrell has worked in several of the most prestigious restaurants within New York, studied the tradition of Italian cuisine, and the culinary landscape in Italy and competed in the Food Network's Iron Chef America. As a child in Upstate New York Chef Burrell was attracted by the food. Following her graduation with an English as well as Communications degree from Canisius College in Buffalo NY she became interested in the business of restaurant by enroling into The Culinary Institute of America. She says "I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a Culinary Institute Of America student. I was awed by every minute." There was no way to be able to learn about, practice or do all the things I did. Chef Burrell following her graduation from The Culinary Institute for Foreigners in Italy was employed for a year in Umbria at La Taverna del Lupo and Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, an Michelin-starred establishment. It was during this time that her experience in Italy allowed her to comprehend and appreciate Italian philosophy and culture, which has had an impact on her perception of food. Burrell is a well-known ambassador in the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation.
